I just spoke for a middle school assembly about my whole "slow reading" stigma in grade school and had a lot of really cool responses from them.

Keep reading and writing! I cherish your comment!

And thanks, CJ for having me on!

CHChristopher Hopperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11844586938092007032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10900857.post-28085897606201206422008-04-02T13:33:00.000-04:002008-04-02T13:33:00.000-04:00Merrie ... I really do believe that studying other books is the best way to learn how to write (well, that and actually writing, of course), but the method you use is awesome.

I have the same stigma hanging over my head. I didn't study writing in college, studied fine art instead, and so I always feel as though I have to "prove myself" somehow. I have to be better at the game because I didn't get the rulebook.

And, the admonition to write everyday. Have I heard that before? Yes. But the way you put it was so fresh. I forget that writing is a skill and that it gets better when I practice, but writing a journal is important for me because it tones my voice. Something I need when it's time to develop a new character or book.

Blessings on both of you and thanks for just the right amount inspiration that I needed to get some writing done!!
MerrieMerrie Destefanohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04447209247265513676noreply@blogger.com
