Reader Poll - What do you call your mother?

My next novel features several characters who are mothers. I'd like to know what you call your mother.

And sometimes Muvver.

My (grown) kids call me Mommy or Mama. Go figure.

If I call her collect, does that count?

I refer to her as Mom when I'm talking to her. Mother when I'm writing about her, such as in my journal.

I voted Mom, but she also gets called Ma, Mum, Mummy, Mater...

I usually call my mom Mama, although I call her Madre when I'm trying to get her attention. Sometimes I say "Ma," but not often.

We also say "mootie" which...is supposed to be German, but we might be making it up.

Rachel, you're not making it up. Mutti is indeed German for Mommy.

I can remember the day when I realized I was too old to call her "Mommy". It was after both my little sisters started calling her Mom. I was in my early 20s!

I'm so relieved to see that I'm not the only one to call their mother mama (though I spell it mamma)! Sometimes mother, but when I was a kid it was either moooooom or mom. :-D Hubs calls his mother ma.

When I had her I always called her Mama and then when I had kids I started to call her Granny and everyone she knew called her that. Now her baby is a great-granny. Please enter me into a book drawing if you have one, I love books.

I call my mother "Mom." My husband's family refers to his as "Mother." Always sounds so formal, but that's what I call her, too.
