Why writers should never be left alone in bookstores or office supply stores

I didn't intend to buy anything. Really I didn't. But let a writer loose in a bookstore, and they're bound to buy something. Especially if there's a whole section devoted to products under ten bucks. I think heaven for a writer is going to look like Barnes & Noble.

You know something else I've discovered? Writers CAN NOT be left alone in office supply stores. The temptation is too great. We see that discount bin and just have to have that three hole punch, multi-colored pack of sticky notes, lamp for our desk even though we already have one, or . . .

Yesterday I made the mistake of visiting Office Max intent on buying some legal pads and Uniball pens. I had no idea there'd be a whole aisle devoted to pens. In every color or style imaginable.

Don't even get me started on the other goodies. Chairs, desks, file cabinets, computer gadgets. Someone help me! I think I'm addicted to office supplies.

Someone should start a Writers Anonymous as we seem to have lots of different addictions.

Bwahahaha! Come to the dark side- we have office supplies. :)

Yeah- I get stuck on the post-its section (pun intended). And the pens. Even though I have a million, and I have a specific model of pen that I prefer above all others. I've even considered ordering a custom wood turned pen (purple heart wood, or Coco Bola) and trying to pass it off as a business expense. Stay thee away from the wood section of Etsy!

We are the same. Pens, flash drives, computer stuff guaranteed to increase my productivity...except if I wasn't using it, I might be writing...

Here's what can happen if you get too many sticky notes:

It doesn't even have to be an office supply store to fill my cart. Walmart had a special on pens. I NEED pens.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Good to know it's not just me. I'm a real sucker for office supplies, especially if they're brightly colored or shiny or have a pretty shape.

Hubby rolls his eyes, that if I ever get extra spending money, it's spent on office supplies and books, rather than clothes! ;-) He says I'm "not normal".
